Full stack Laravel development for FitLynk, a fitness platform connecting people with local gyms and coaches.
Context
FitLynk is a fitness platform that connects people with local gyms and coaches. I work on it remotely for the team in Dubai as a full stack developer, building features end to end: I review code, write tests and deploy releases to production.
The problem
The core of the product is finding gyms and coaches nearby, and the map that shows them took about 7 seconds to load. The platform also needed gym listings without entering each one by hand, and a way to flag fake accounts.
What I built
I rebuilt the nearby search on MySQL spatial indexes. A bounding-box filter narrows the candidates to the visible map area before any distance is calculated, and results are cached, which cut map load time from about 7 seconds to 3.
To fill the platform with real listings, I built a Google Maps import that brings in gym and facility data in bulk instead of entering it by hand. I also built a spam account scoring module that scores new sign-ups and flags the ones that look fake.
Highlights
- Rebuilt the nearby gyms and coaches search with MySQL spatial indexes, bounding-box filtering and caching.
- Built a Google Maps import that brings in gym and facility listings in bulk, so the platform has data without manual entry.
- Built a spam account scoring module that flags fake sign-ups.
- Review code, write tests and deploy releases to production, plus regular maintenance and optimization.
Results
- Map load time for the nearby search cut from about 7 seconds to 3.
